BELGRADE SHIP CARNIVAL was held under the slogan 'It is Time for Rivers', inviting as many citizens and tourists as possible to visit the event and participate in its program on that date, organized by the Tourist Organization of Belgrade, under the auspices of the Assembly of Belgrade City, for the eighth successive year, on July 2, 2011, in the section of the River Sava Aquatorium, from Branko's Bridge to the River Entry (the Sava Harbor and on the New Belgrade side). The event sub-slogan 'At the Happy Bowe' focused the entry of the river Sava into the Danube, the space where the Bowe marking this place is located and where more than a hundred European rivers entering the Danube are connected.
The BELGRADE SHIP CARNIVAL is a traditional city event, having the objective of promoting the rivers Sava and Danube, especially their mouth, making the recognizable image of Belgrade along with the Great War Island, contributing to the far known good atmosphere of the city and offering the Belgrade inhabitants and worldwide guests an excellent entertainment. As declared by Mr. Dejan Veselinov, Acting CEO of the Tourist Organization of Belgrade, "The SHIP CARNIVAL contributes to the development of the sailing tourism, economy and investment at the rivers and this year, it has also promoted Belgrade candidacy for the EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE 2020".
The main Carnival program, followed by the visitors both from the river banks and the nearby anchored ships, such as Sirona and others, included a defile of the Carnival decorated ships from Belgrade marinas and the river cruisers, water jet ski attractions, the selection of the Carnival Queen, exhibiting stands of the Tourist Organizations of Bratislava, Budapest, Belgrade and Serbia, the participation of the Carnival groups and street entertainers, clowns and jongleurs, souvenir sales, the action The Belgrade Belgradazing, summer events promotion and many other activities.
