The Second Spa Congress, with the international participants, took place on May 18 - 20, 2010, in Vrnjačka Spa. The Congress, having started by prize awarding on the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of the Serbian Spas and Resorts Association, gathered prominent experts in Serbia and worldwide to this year's basic topic related to the development directions of the spa tourism and the dilemma on the dominancy of the Medical or the Wellness and Spa access. The focus of this year's Congress was on a very important development of standards in the medical tourism.
Under cooperation with all factors of the tourist industry of Serbia and support of the Ministry of Economics and Regional Development - Tourism Section and the Tourist Organization of Serbia, the Congress took over a very important obligation - to define clearly the problems in the spa incoming tourism and suggest the methods for their solution. On this occasion, under participation of Dr. Goran Petković, State Secretary of Tourism of Serbia, Dr. Dejan Stanojević, President and Mr. Vladan Vešković, Secretary of the Serbian Spas and Resorts Association, Ms. Ljiljana Čerović, Public Relations Manager of the Tourist Organization of Serbia, Mr. Radisav Stanković, CEO of the YUTA - Serbian Travel Agency Association, Mr. Branko Krivokapić, CEO of the Business Association of Hotel and Catering Industry - HORES and Ms. Ivana Stanković, M. A., Editor of the 'Internet Serbia Travel News', the greatest attention was attracted and the most passion was blazed up by the Round Table Conference with the topic The Spa Incoming Tourism - Problems and How to Solve Them, which pointed out the topics: Lack of a Clearly Profiled Spa Tourist Product, Unsuccessful Privatization, Unclear Promotion Strategy, Undeveloped Cooperation of the Accommodation Facility Owners in the Spas and Travel Agencies, Lack of Financial Support to the Incoming Tourism, as well as Lack of the Green Field and Brown Field Investments.
In the operative section of the Congress, in addition to other lecturers, the Congress participants were also Prof. Dr. Günthner Leiner, President of the European Health Forum ("The Necessary Medical and Non-Medical Standards as the Condition for the Patient Acceptance from the EU Countries"), Mr. Joachim Lieber, Secretary General of the European Spas Association ("The European Medical Tourism Future Strategy"), Dr. Albel Andor, Cluster of the South Hungary Medical Tourism ('The Government Support in Hungarian Medical Tourism Development'), as well as Peter Gulyas, Hungarian Tourist Board ('Marketing of the Hungarian Medical Tourism').
The Congress was followed also by the exhibiting participation of the equipment manufacturers and the related Wellness and Spa industry, as well as a visit to the ethnic village Rakezić, near Vrnjačka Spa.
