The Tourism Organization of Serbia opened the competition for the Tourist Flower Award for the period July 2009 – July 2010. The Award is given for the important accomplishments in the quality rising of tourist services, as well as contribution to the tourism development, improvement and promotion in the following categories:
Tourism Organization, Special Event Supporting Tourism Promotion (event, trade fair, congress, exhibition), Accommodation Catering Facility, Food and Drinks Catering Facility, Rural Tourism Household, Wine Cellar, Travel Agency, Electronic and Printed Media Presentation of Serbia as a Tourist Destination (film, publication, the Internet site, broadcasting, report or magazine), Less and More Valuable Souvenir, Tourism Innovation, Tourist Ambient Unit Arrangement, Tourist Guide and Organization or Individual for Contribution to the Tourism Improvement of the Republic of Serbia.
The Award proposals are provided by companies or individuals, in writing, not later than August 11, 2010. The candidacy procedure and the Award criteria are subject to the Rules of Providing the Tourist Flower Award.

VOJVODINA’S SPA TOURISM IN ROMANIA |

On the occasion of the jubilee of the Hungarian Southern Great Plain Development Agency in Bugac, the Fund Cluster of the Vojvodina Medical Tourism has been enabled to promote, in August this year, in 14 Romanian cities, the health care/tourist potentials of Vojvodina.
This project was approved at the 20th jubilant expanded session of the Board of Directors of the Fund Cluster of the Vojvodina Medical Tourism. It pointed out also the Cluster networking, the promotion of the European Strategy of the Danube Region in Szeged, as well as the contribution to partnership contract concluding with the M?rahalom and Baja County. Especially important is the agreement of tyhe municipalities Vršac and M?rahalom on the cross-border cooperation and participation in the competitions for the EU Admission Funds for the use of sustainable energy sources and geothermal waters. The contract on the research of the region thermal potentials, as well as the one on the construction of the new resort-spa-medical complex and industrial zone on the territory of the Vršac Municipality were signed, as well.

SPAS KEEP PACE

The Serbian Spas Association has got a significant role in the organization of the 43rd International Tourism Fair, taking place in Novi Sad on September 28 – October 1, 2010. As a multi-purpose Association, gathering almost all Serbian spas and resorts, the Association will promote the destinations themselves, further steps in the standard raising and coordination with the European spa tourism contemporary trends, new medical and relaxing programs applied in the Serbian spas, being a step forward in the prevention, curing and rehabilitation process.
Organized by the Serbian Spas Association, more than 30 spa and resort centers will participate in it, such as Vrnjačka, Kanjiža, Niška, Ribarska, Prolom, Junaković, Rusanda, Vrdnik Spa and others. Many Tourism Organizations of the municipalities and cities having at their territorries the spa and resort centers (Kraljevo, Kruševac, Gornji Milanovac, Niš, Kuršumlija, Raška and others) found their interest in participation within the Spas and Resorts Association, as well. In addition to such centers, they will also promote the mountain, rural and event tourism, as well as the regional cultural/historical heritage.
Mr. Vladan Vešković, Secretary of the Serbian Spas Association, announces the spa destination tourist offer at the exhibiting section of the Novi Sad Fair Master Hall will be followed also by the price list for the season Autumn/Winter 2010.

Organized by the Tourism Organization of Serbia and the German Technical Cooperation Agency GTZ, Belgian journalists visited Serbia, producing a documentary report on the Serbian tourist offer, with a special focus on the biking tour possibilities along the Danube. This report will have three functional units of the Danube – the first one including Belgrade, the second one including the Lower Danube Region and the third one featuring the tourism potentials of Đerdap. The report will be broadcasted in the program of Vlaanderen Vakantieland Television, in autumn, when the Belgian auditorium will meet Serbia, first of all the most attractive locations of the National Park Đerdap.

| THROUGH SERBIA IN THE TOURIST/SPORTS WAY |

Tour International Danubien – the traditional tourist/sports/recreational kayak, canoe and rowing regatta on the Danube, flowing from the German town Donaueschingen to the St. George village in Romania, on the Black Sea coast, passes by 10 countries on its way and stops in 7 of them, passes through four European capitals – Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest and Belgrade, lasts for three months and makes a journey of about 2,840 kilometers.
On its way through Serbia, the regatta remains for 16 days, stops at 14 places and visits 11 cities and municipalities. The Tourism Board of the Serbian Kayak Association, under cooperation with the Tourism Organizations of the municipalities and cities along the Danube river, the kayakers from Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Finnland, Israel, USA, Australia, Serbia and other countries, will feature Serbia through its culture, history, tradition, habits and tourism.
On their Serbian tour, the kayakers enter Apatin on July 28 and exit from the Đerdap Lock II on August 14. With the previous announcement and agreement with the organizer, anyone wishing to join them may do so and exit wherever it may be suitable.

YOUNG TOURISM LEADERS |

The EIAT (Education and Industry Advancing Together) Conference takes place on September 24 – 26, 2010 in Belgrade as the only regional event, having the mission of the best young leader platform creating within tourism and hotel industry. This international tourism conference gathered so far the best students from 20 trade universities from the Southeast Europe region, key representatives of the tourism industry public and private sectors, as well as the lecturers recognized as the most recommended leaders of the worldwide tourism industry.
A side event of the EIAT Conference is the Southeast Europe Future Leaders Forum, in the form of a congress industry workshop for the best 40 students. It is carried out under cooperation with the greatest worldwide exhibition for incentive travels, meetings and events – IMEX and the greatest meeting planners association in the world – MPI.
The EIAT Conference will be attended by more than 230 delegates from Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia.

At the World Exhibition EXPO in Shanghai, the Tourism Organization of Serbia featured its tourist offer through the events taking place in Serbia throughout the year, through the historical and scientific heritage, tradition, culture and habits of the people. A quiz for visitors has been organized, as well and anyone having answered correctly won gift souvenirs with the TOS sign. Promotional films and photographs of Serbia were presented and a special fan with photos and information texts on Serbia in Chinese language was printed, as well. The monograph Serbia Expo 2010 featured the most beautiful destinations, natural beauties, the most valuable examples of the historical and scientific heritage, people, habits, food and anything specific for Serbia. The Internet presentation of the TOS was translated into Chinese language.
About a million visitors visited the Serbian pavilion in Shanghai and anyone wishing to get the Serbian stamp in his/her EXPO Passport, got it. As declared by the representatives of the Tourism Organization of Serbia, trying to say some Serbian words, many Chinese expressed their wish to visit Serbia as tourists.

THE BEST WEDDING PARTY |

In the Dunđerski Castle Park, in Kulpin, the Tourist Organization of Bački Petrovac organizes, on September 11, 2010, the traditional International Event The Wedding Day - in the Past and Now.
As declared by Ms. Ljuboslava Štrba, Managing Director of the Tourist Organization Bački Petrovac, the widely open and decorated gates of the Dunđerski Castle will receive the local and international participants and guests, coming to enjoy the revived wedding habits. The multicultural wealth of Serbia, Vojvodina and the neighboring countries will be featured by music and dance performed by folklore groups, wedding habits, wedding dresses and specialties, a fashion show of modern wedding dresses, festive suits and all related wedding equipment, the best brides and the best wedding cake selection and an exhibition of wedding bouquets and flower arrangements.

FORMING THE BELGRADE HOSTEL ASSOCIATION |

In order to accomplish formal relations and cooperation bwetween the Belgrade hostels, many of which have been opened recently, from the classic ’Student’ and ’Back-Packer’ ones, to those with the top level accommodation and offer, a conference was held in Belgrade with the topic The Possibilities of Forming the Belgrade City Hostel Association. In order to show in the same way their offer and thereby attract additional visitors, with a special focus on businessmen, the City Break and ’Congress Tourists’, this conference gathered the owners and managers of Belgrade hostels, the official representatives (of the City of Belgrade, Tourism Organization and Chamber of Commerce of Belgrade), donation programs, the representatives of the Youth Hostel Associations of Serbia and Croatia. The models of similar associations in the Region were presented, as well as the possible projects, contributing to a higher profitability of this section.

BY AN OPEN BUS TO AVALA |

Since Avala is one of the TOP 10 Attractions of Belgrade, the traffic company Lasta Belgrade featured a new offer, including a visit to this mountain by an open bus. In order to improve the tourism offer of the city, this program is carried out on Saturdays and Sundays, from July 17 to October 02, 2010 and with a tourist guide, it includes a drive to Avala, taking about an hour, an hour staying at the Avala Tower and the return to Belgrade. The total duration of the excursion is about three hours. Departure is from the Nikola Pašić Square (the tourist bus station), on Saturdays and Sundays at 10.30 a. m. The excursion price without the ticket for the Avala Tower is RSD.550, whereas the ticket itself costs RSD.50.

MEETING THROUGH A SOUVENIR |
The Tourism Organizations of Serbia and Belgrade organize, promoting Serbia and Belgrade as attractive destinations for local and international tourists, throughout the summer, a presentation of souvenirs, handicrafts, old crafts and the Serbian cultural creation, in the Čika Ljubina Street in Belgrade.
Within the campaign Serbia - My Country, My Travel, designed with the objective of supporting the local tourists information of the Serbian beauties, in addition to the souvenirs, the cultural/tourist events organized this summer all over Serbia and Belgrade and, depending upon the taste, they are a good reason to travel to some destinations.
The souvenir selling exhibition is open from Thursday to Saturday, from 11.00 a. m. to 8.00 p. m.
