	Ptuj with its surrounding has been famous for a long time for its delicious meals and excellent wine. Once upon a time, the Romans enjoyed in this region, the Castle staff, warriors and traders and now these are the tourists. The Golden Vine, from 1917, the oldest Slovenian wine, is kept in the Ptuj Cellar, showing almost the eight hundred years long wine production tradition of these regions.
The visit to the Cellar is improved by a multimedia presentation of Haloz and Slovenske Gorice, as well as tasting of high class wines, such as Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Laški Riesling. The wine goes with the specialties of the traditional Slovenian cuisine: žganci, polenta, potice, the Kranj sausage, flat bread, Kras ham, žlikrofi and many others.

TERME PTUJ
The most attractive tourist/accommodation part of Ptuj are Terme Ptuj, having slightly alkali, low mineral, natural thermal water. The water, having the temperature of 39 - 54°C, rises from three wells, from the depth of 1050 - 1590 m to the surface. It is good for recreation and useful in curing and rehabilitation of rheumatic and degenerative diseases, locomotion system injuries, neurological and manager diseases. The Thermal Park includes 4200 sq. m. water area with a curing, low mineral water. It consists of 12 swimming pools with waves, toboggans (the largest one in Slovenia), a river, water/air massages and whirlpools. The guests have got saunas, massages, baths, paraffin covers and various therapies at their disposal, as well.
The indoor Thermal Park consists of 6 swimming pools with the most diverse recreations. Many sports activities are organized, as well: fitness, tennis center with eight outdoor and indoor grounds, table tennis, mini golf, ball games, bowling, bicycle and horse riding, trekking tours, rafting on the river Drava and the golf grounds are just nearby, as well.

Ptuj, a town of the cultural / historical heritage, thermal mineral water and gastronomic specialties, is located at 120 kilometers to the North-East from Ljubljana. It is the oldest and one of the most beautiful towns in Slovenia. The wider region was settled already in the Neolith and in the written records, Ptuj was mentioned for the first time as the Roman settlement Poetovia. The old town with a castle, where there is currently a museum, the Dominican and Minorite Monasteries testify of the past. Constructed in the river Drava valley, Ptuj is full of old narrow streets with Baroque façade houses. The Bell Tower from the 16th century, St. George's Church from the 12th century, with great frescoes, the St. Florian Statue in the middle of the town square, the five meters high Orpheus Monument, the God of Mitra Shrine, the City Hall and numerous Churches around, among which the pointed out Ptujska Gora (Ptuj Mountain), a pearl of the sacral Gothic style in Slovenia, make this town irresistible for tourists.
