A memory collection of the Diplomat Pavle Beljanski is a legate of one of the greatest collectors in Serbia. Since 1957, artistic works, to collecting of which Beljanski dedicated his whole life, have been exhibited in Novi Sad, in an attractive, intended designed facility. The collection consists of paintings, sculptures and drawings of the most important Serbian artists of the first half of the 20th century, among whom also Nadežda Petrović, Sava Šumanović, Kosta Hakman, Petar Dobrović, Zora Petrović, Risto Stijović, Sreten Stojanović, Marko Čelebonović, Jovan Bijelić, Ivan Tabaković, Milan Konjović, Petar Lubarda, Ivan Radović, Nedeljko Gvozdenović, Bogdan Šuput and others.
Specially interesting is the story of the exhibited painting of Vlaho Bukovac 'The Great Iza'. The painting was presented by Pavle Beljanski in 1965, in order to let it be exhibited throughout the country and worldwide and to found a prize under his name of the collected funds, intended for the best graduate work within the national arts history.
The most attractive part of the Gallery is certainly the memorial one, with a permanent exhibition of a reconstruction of the donor's living ambient, where, in addition to the furniture and personal belongings, one can see also paintings of old masters, rare books, medals, photographs, as well as his diplomatic uniform. Due to extraordinary acoustics, concerts take place sometimes in the exhibiting space, as well. The memorial collection has also various exhibitions related to topics and personalities of the Serbian culture and arts of the first half of the 20th century, as well as workshops intended for children of various ages.
The memorial collection of Pavle Beljanski is available for citizens from Wednesday to Sunday, from 10.00 a. m. to 6.00 p. m. and on Thursdays from 1.00 p. m. to 9.00 p. m. All visitors who would like to hear and find out something new, in addition to seeing the beauty, may obtain professional explanations in Serbian and English language.
