30 km far away from Novi
Sad and 70 km from
Belgrade, in the village under
the same name, on the slopes of Fruška Gora, close to the Vrdnik
Spa, there
is The Ethnic Yard Jazak. It is more than 300 years old
and an example of the rural construction from the 18th century. It was built
of stone and firmly packed earth, with the wooden roof structure. It is covered
by plain roof tiles.
The Ethnic Yard Jazak consists of a
house with the residential and corporate parts (a shed - manufacturing of
brandy and wine, a grain store), a village yard with the bread oven and the
smoking hall for meat product, fruits and vegetables drying. The house has
got a permanent exhibition of the exhibits from the second half of the 19th
century. The shed is used also as a stage for various programs, such as literary
meetings, painting colonies, tourist events, workshops, fashion shows, schools
in nature, folklore reviews and others. The Ethnic Yard Jazak is
also the place of various village festivities on the occasion of the Christmas,
The Easter, St. George's Day and the Pentecost.
During the visit to The
Ethnic Yard Jazak, one should certainly
visit also the Jazak Monastery, with the relics of the Tsar Uroš, the Sremska
Ravanica and Mala Remeta Monasteries, the Thermal Hotel in the Vrdnik Spa
(5 km) and the Jazak water factory.
