On the occasion of the World Tourism Day, marked this year by the slogan TOURISM FOR ALL, showing the estimation that shows the estimation that 15% of the world's population live with some form of disability and accessibility for all should be at the center of tourism policies and business strategies, not only as a human right, but also as a great market opportunity that "All of the world's citizens have the right to experience the incredible diversity this planet has to offer", the National Tourism Organization of Serbia (NTOS) awarded (on September 27, 2016) at the Museum of Yugoslav History in Belgrade the Tourist Flower awards for important accomplishments in the tourism service quality raising, contribution to the development, advancement and tourism promotion for the period July 2015 - July 2016. e.

On the occasion of the recognition awarding, Mr. Rasim Ljajić, Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, points out ""Tourism has got the potential to be an important economic branch of the country and the plan is to increase the number of tourists' nights in Serbia from 6.6 million to 9.6 million, in the following four years, the tourism turnover from 2.5 billion to 3.7 billion US Dollars and the foreign currency income from 1.1 billion to 2.2 billion US Dollars. Five destinations - Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kopaonik, Zlatibor i Vrnjačka Spa attract 72% of the international tourists. Thus, the tourism offer should be increased and attract the foreigners also to other places, since Serbia has much more to offer. Mr. Ljajić alsp announced  the year 2017 will be marked by the Danube, which will make the basis of the tourism offer of the country

Awarding the Tourist Flower recognitions, Ms. Marija Labović, CEO of the National Tourism Organization of Serbia, pointed out "Tourism is the opportunity of Serbia. The number of tourists, the number of nights and the foreign currency income have been increased. The campaign My Serbia, on line campaign My Serbia, the attendance at many global Tourism Fairs, visits of the global tourism journalists and tour operators, as well as the promotional film "The Danube in Serbia: 588 Impressions", awarded by 8 international awards, had a great in Serbia and abroad".


This year's recognitions awarding Tourist Flower was followed also by the annoucement of Serbia promotion in the world through printed travel guides Eyewitness (for the markets of the United Kingdom and USA) and Polyglot (for the Russian speaking area markets) as well as Audio Travel Guide through Serbia - the NTOS mobile application".


Special awards out of Competition belonged to the Olympic and Paralympic Committees of Serbia, which contributed through their activities to the Serbia reputation increase in the world and assisted the Serbia promotion as an attractive travel destination.

The Tourist Flower 2016 award winners, which receive beside the Diploma and the appropriate statue, also the attendance at a global  Tourism Fair and advertising in the printed media of a selected country in the Region, are:
